The water thermolysis at 140 C and 1.0 atm.
Water thermolysis at breakthrough lower temperature and normal pressure. David Judbarovski, systems engineering, principle inventor, retired, judbarovski.blogspot.com, judbarovski@gmail.com. Abstract: Here the reversible reaction (a) NH3 = 0.5 N2 + 1.5 H2, dH = + 46 kJ, dS = - 101 J / (mol * K), can be used as a cathalyst for the (b) water thermolysis being (0.5 N2 + 1.5 H2) + 0.4 * (H2O = H2 + 0.5 O2) + (NH3), dH = - 46 + 0.4 * 242 = 51, dS = 101 + 0.4 * (- 180 + 131 + 102) = 123 kJ at T > 140 C. The cost of 0.4 Mmol of H2 is a cost of total heat energy consume, being (46 + 51 = 97) * 4 /3.6 /0.8 = USD 133 /ton H2 + Capex. All those open the door to realistic hydrogen economics and zero-carbon engineering. References. Solar and Wind as cheap as 0.4 cent / kWh, judbarovski.blogspot.com/2025/02, posted on Feb. 11, 2025.
