Simplest navigation of submarine at deep water
Author: David Judbarovski, systems engineering, principle inventor, retired
It can be two different kinds of submarine navigation:
(1) Deep water navigation and
(2) Shallow water navigation
Note: satellite location and navigation is out of consideration here.
For shallow water navigation, there is used the modern database of bottom maps, must be constantly updated and maintained, while for deep water, it can be used a simplest means of location and navigation.
The said simplest means are two level ones:
(a) Inertial navigator (see “Precise inertial navigator, is tiny and cheap”, posted on 21.10.2020, https://judbarovski.blogspot.com/2020/10 ). It can reliably operate very long, practically for all period of autonomous mission.
Nevertheless, It can be recommended a second level of navigation, serving for periodical very seldom control and correction of the said inertial navigator. It can be
(b) A pair of high frequency direction finders (HF/DF, or nickname: huff-duff )
