Hydrogen (H2) being a predecessor in chemistry and in artificial fuels production in particular, from air and water domestically and distribute guarantees energy independency. USD 34/ton H2 = USD 6/ton NH3 = USD 2.4/bbloe , all by the Opex. Super cheaply, zero-carbon, circular, compact, scalable. (1) CO + H2O = CO2 + H2 - 41 kJ, exothermic reaction is used here as 'enveloping catalyst' for thermal water splitting (see reaction (2)). Formic acid - CO2H2, as intermidiator of process (1) allows its soft conditions. The by-product of reaction (1) is heat in electricity for sale, being 41 kJ * 2.5 = USD 103 /Mmol. (2) (CO2 + H2) + m H2O = m H2 + m/2 O2 + (CO + H20). At m = 0.33, a cost of H2-product is USD 34 / ton. H2 cost = total energy consumed. Really, because here the CO2 and CO are circular and practically free, and total energy consumed is 0.33 * 242 + 41 * 1.1 - 41 * 2.5 = USD 22.5 for 0.33 * 2 = 0.66 ton H2 product, or 22.5 / 0.66 = USD 34 / ton H2 QED!!! The said superrcheap hydrogen can be converted in USD 2.4 /bbloe, and USD 6/ton NH3, the all is Opex.
