Any respectable engineering institution has a team of analysts and futurist being think tanks to help business development. Can I hope your NETL and EERE to have them, it is for them too.

 

(1) “Zero-carbon” fuels, as ammonia as hydrogen, the both are very hazardous, while “carbon-neutral” energy technologies, if their carbon dioxide emission is fully extracted from atmosphere, it can reverse “climate change” down to levels of pre-industrial era in a few years, because of natural processes are known as “nature carbon cycle”.  

(2) Such carbon dioxide needs to be cheaper USD 30.0/ton or so, and without long transporting and storing in such huge amount, but to convert it in traditional liquid carbon based fuels, e.g. gasoline and so on, as for conventional usage, as by water reforming  to feed H2-air fuel cells can save 50% such fuels.  Recyclable artificial carbon-based fuel is a key to renewable electricity without foolish ideas of Smart Grids being a Big Folly.

Breakthrough new fuel is better than oil David Judbarovski, systems engineering, principle inventor judbarovski@gmail.com Abstract Lithium hydride being reformed by water vapor in hydrogen then by fuel cell can create 5.25 kWh electricity/ kg. LiH, vs. 3.75 kWh per kg gasoline, while that LiH needs for its recycling 10.3 kWh renewable electricity , so system energy efficiency is 50% without any harmful exhaust. For the oil, analogous technology or by burning the both are followed by the oil recycling, they are 25% energy efficient with a lot of harmful exhaust..
