Modern energy initiative for the West

Modern energy initiative for the West David Judbarovski, systems engineering, principle inventor judbarovski@gmail.com, Linkedin 18.11.2022 European Union has been unprepared to Russian manipulations with oil and gas cuts of delivery and their prices risen, and is faced to be “frozen” in coming winter and collapse in a nearest future. I can suppose following step-by-step emerging initiatives can help. (1) Short-term (tactical) one for implementation as soon as possible Specially invented wind power generators (see disclosure in Note 1 bellow), being very simple and cheap in manufacturing can be quickly and simple installed distributed, promising electricity cheaper 1.0 eurocent per kWh, and serves to substitute natural gas for Thermal Power Stations and for heating. (2) Middle-term initiatives for 2023/2024. Such extremely cheap electricity being sold by much bigger prices can create budgets in growing rate (breeding investment) for the next wind power generators and industry for water electrolysis, needed for installation such wind power generators, and to create big industry of fuel cells instead of much more costly and heavy battery, for next step serving to halve fuel consume by transport and for carbon-neutral artificially synthetized fuels from the water and the air. Note 1 Disclosure for experts (mechanical-, electrical- , chemical engineering and material science) Abstract New kind of wind power generation being a multi-sectioned thin rope fixed below and stretched upward by a balloon lighter than air, while each section comprise a rigid frame equipped by a pair of small wind turbines symmetrically to the rope and rotated by wind each in opposite direction to the another one to neglect torsion loads to the rope. Totally its electricity is much cheaper USD 0.01/ kWh, allows cost competitive fuels from CO2 of the air and H2O split. It is looked as a vertical chain of frames the each is equipped by a pair of the wind turbines It can be deployed as at the land as abundant and cheaper in seas and oceans, even if local deepness down to 3 km or deeper. At the last case, the rope is fixed to a small container filled by air underwater near water surface, while the container is fixed to deep water bed by long ropes at its three different points Really: (1) The lion share of such electricity cost is a specific price of electric generators being about USD 100.0/kW, so electricity is cheaper $150/ (9000 hr./yr. * 5 years payback) = 0.35 cent/kWh. Q.E.D !!! (2) CO2 + 3 H2 = CH2 (oil) + 2 H2O – 214 kJ = 4250 kWh / ton of the oil - negligible 3 H2O = 3H2 + 1.5 O2 - 858 kJ = 40,000 kWh/ton H2 CO2 from air reacts with CaO solution then split by heat = 1144 kWh/ton CO2 If less $0.01/kWh, so (1144 * 44 + 6 * 40,000 / 0.7-efficiency) / 14 = 28,000 kWh /ton oil = 4,000 kWh/bbl << $40/bbl OPEX + ~$25/bbl CAPEX Q.E.D. !!! Background (1) To be competitive (about USD 70.0/bbloe – barrel of oil equivalent), any artificially synthetized fuel has to be produced with energy cheaper 1.0 USA cent per kWh. Such criteria can be named as Judbarovski Upper Limit. (2) Hydrogen Economics, including Ammonia as a fuel, is populism, very dangerous populism, except of some very special technologies. (3) The buzzword of Smart Grids is a folly. For example: More than one year ago, Ministry of Energy (DoE) USA publicly admitting that more than 100 GW offshore Wind power capacity built in USA, is not an achievement, but disaster, and were forced to seek help outside their system for ideas (Request for Information (RFI) DE-FOA-0002389 asked by the DoE Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) and Wind Energy Technologies Office (WETO)), how to integrate such gigantic not predictable and not enough cheap power into American national power grids, admitting that populist conception of Smart Grids was and is no more than folly.
