Abstract
On board:
2 LiH + H2O = LiOH + Li + 1.5 H2 + 17 kJ at mild conditions
H2 = H2/air FC = 40 kWh * 0.7(efficiency) = 28 kWh/kgH2 = 5.25 kWh/kg LiH fuel
Materials are looped.so practically free ones.
For comparison, 3.75 kWh/ kg gasoline, 30% energy efficiency
Battery of conventional electric vehicle is in order of magnitude both heavier and more expensive.
System’s efficiency with recycling is 5.25 / 10.3 = 50%
Indeed,
LiH-fuel recycling by renewable electricity:
LiOH = (electrolysis) = Li + 0.5 H20 + 0.25 O2 = 342 kJ
2 Li + H2 = FC = 2 LiH + 182 kJ
H2O = PEM FC or magnetron = H2 + 0.5 O2 – 286 kJ
Totally 342 + 286 – 18 2 = 446 kJ /0.75 = 595 kJ = 10.3 kWh Q.E.D.
