(1a) CO + 2 H2O = CO2 + 2H2 + 0.5 O2 - 289 kJ. 289 * 4 /3.6 = USD 320 [1]. H2 = (37 * 28 + 320) / 4 = USD 339 /ton H2. and CO2 is free. (1b) CO2 + H2 = CO + H2O + 3 kJ negligible. CO = 2 * 339 / 28 = USD 24 / ton CO. The second step. (2a) CO + 2 H2O = CO2 + 2 H2 + 0.5 O2 - USD 320. H2 = (24 * 28 + 320) / 4 = USD 248 / ton H2. (2b) CO2 + H2 = CO + H20 - 3 kJ. CO = 2 * 248 / 28 = USD 18 / ton CO. The third step. (3a) H2 = (18 * 28 + 320) / 4 = USD 206 / ton H2. (3b) CO = 2 * 206 / 28 = USD 15 / ton CO. So CO + 2 H2 = CH2 + H2O, and CH2 = (15 * 28 + 4 * 206) / 14 = 1240 / 14 = USD 88 / ton CH2 = USD 12.4 /bbl
