Very cheap, compact and effective offshore storage of huge energy Author: David Judbarovaki, systems engineering, principle inventor, judbarovski@gmail.com, Linkedin Abstract Invented type of huge energy storage is very cheap, compact and well scalable. It is pneumatic and inverted version of pumped hydropower storage (PHS), but isn’t needed in very specific terrains for deployment. Capital investment per kWh is practically free, while energy efficiency is 65% for charge and 80% for recharge. . Charge Surplus electricity is powering several air membrane compressors of total outlet up to 100 bars, and the pressed air is filling underwater reservoir covered. E.g. at depth of 1000 m. the cover is loaded on both its sides and compensated practically to zero. For example, 6.0 m3/c of the air at 100 bars is enough for each 1.0 GW electricity supply of 70% average capacity factor, while 100.0 hours reservoir can need less 0.5 km2 deep sea bottom of natural rigged surface area with thin flexible cover sealed reliably at its boarders . Really, 10^6 kW * 30% = 3 * 10^5 kW = 0.8 * 1.3 * Q (nm3/sec) * 100 * ln (100 /1 ) = 500 * Q so Q = 600 nm3/sec) = 6.0 m3/sec at 100 bars) * 100 hrs * 3600 sec. = 2 * 10 ^ 6 m3 /4 m = 0.5 km2 Recharge The recharge system comprises the said reservoir, a pair of vessels slightly above sea level and pumps alternately filling the said vessels by the sea water, and emptied by the said pressed air vertically onto a water wheel, while the water returns back to the sea.
