Here CatERR can be 0.5 N2 + 1.5 H2 = NH3, dH = - 46 kJ, dS = - 103 J / mol * K, and the water thermolysis is (NH3) + 0.25 (H2O = H2 + 0.5 O2) + (0.5 N2 + 1.5 H2), dH = 46 + 0.25 * 242 = 106, dS = 103 + 0.25 * (131 +102 - 180) = 116, and dG = 106,000 - 116 * T < 0, so T > 640 C. Moreover, because all reagents here are circular and practically free, a cost of the hydrogen is equal the cost of energy consumed, while the heat of the CatERR can be converted effectively in electricity and sold, the H2 is 106 kJ * 1.1 - 46 * 2.5 = negligible + Capex All those open the door to realistic hydrogen economics and carbon negative engineering. Abstract Simplified technology promises USD 161/ton H2, USD 11.5 /ton CO, and hydrocarbons of USD 6 /bbl. They are OPEX, and in order of magnitude cheapŠµr than prices of fossil fuel and can use now existing infrastructure. (a) CO2 [1] + H2 = CO + H20 - 3 kJ negligible. Here everywhere CO2 is circular and free. A cost of H2O is negligible. If Q served for a cost, Q(CO) * 28 = Q(H) * 2, so Q(CO) = Q(H) / 14. (b) [2] CO + 1.5 H2O = CO2 + 1.5 H2 + 0.25 O2 + 146 kJ. 146 kJ = 146 * 4/ 3.6 [3], [4] = USD 161.0 /Mmol. 1.5 * 2 * Q(H) - 161 = Q(CO) * 28 = 2 Q(H).
